Virginia Ann Stigall Austin, 57, was born May 30, 1956, at Fort Leonard Military Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Virginia went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2014, after a valiant battle with liver cancer.

Virginia was the daughter of Virginia Faye (Paige) Stigall and Randall Paul (Dempsey) Stigall. She grew up near Hartville, Mo., in the Coon Creek/Rock Store Community.

Virginia was married to John Raymond Austin on May 18, 1974, at New Rock Springs Free Will Baptist Church at Bendavis, Mo., by the Rev. Payton Smyer. To this union was born one daughter, Jacquline Cristine Austin, and one son, Randall Odell Austin.

Virginia was preceded in death by both parents and her son, Randy.

She is survived by her husband, John of the home; her daughter, Jackie Austin Shelton and husband, Chris; andthree grand-daughters, Jade Marie, Jasmine Krystal and Christmas Rose, all of the Bucyrus/Huggins Community.

Virginia helped John operate and manage a dairy farm for 28 years. She was very active with various farm organizations: the Dairy Wives, the Dairy Breed Organizations and was a member of the Texas County Fair Board for several years. Virginia was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was one of the individuals called by the National Headquarters in disaster situations. She was deployed to many areas to help provide places of shelter, sources of food or being the source of encouragement to those in need. She saw it has one of her ministries, to reach out and help those in times of trouble. In recent years, she worked at McDonalds besides running a home-based business.

She enjoyed being outside and loved nature and animals of all sorts, especially horses. She had a very outgoing personality, having friends in all 50 states.

Virginia was saved and baptized at the age of 10 into Coon Creek Baptist Church and later joined New Rock Springs Baptist Church alongside John in 1973.

She will be sorely missed by family, neighbors and friends around the country.

Services were 2 p.m. Friday, March 7th at New Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. David Leighty and the Rev. Phillip Combs officiating. Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home, Houston, Mo.

Pallbearers were Levi Leighty, Levi Freeman, Mark Freeman, Jake Broos, Alan Wolthius, and Keith Murray. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Freeman, Larry Ragsdale, Don Benson, Chris Shelton, J.R. Stigall and Roger Heath.
