Houston seventh-grader Kennedy Campbell won the 800 meters for the Houston Middle School track team’s lone first-place finish at last Thursday’s season-opening meet in Willow Springs.
Kennedy also finished second at 1600 meters. Elayna Sisk was third in the 400 and fourth in the 75 hurdles. Shelby Korte placed third in the 800 and fourth in the 1600.
The eighth-grade girls had eight top-three finishes in the meet. Rheanna Martin led the team by placing second in the 1600. Katilyn Root (shotput and discus), Sevanna Rowland (triple jump), Carly Crawford (800) and Amber Johnson (high jump) all finished in third place. The 4×100 relay team of Mikayla Kuel Johnson, Madison Lawson and Rowland and 4×200 of Kuel, Rowland, Crawford and Sydney Anderson both placed third.
Ty McCloud led the eight-grade boys with a second-place finish in the triple jump. Ridge Dailey was third in the long jump and Noah Moseley finished third in the 75 hurdles and 400. The 4×100 relay team of Josh Hurst, Joe Brown, Jeremy Wink and Michael Clayton also placed third.
Aiden Sawyer was third in the discus for the seventh-grade boys as their top finisher.
