Delbert Irving Hinkelman, 70, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home in Licking.
He was born May 24, 1943, in Illinois, son of Irvan and Esther Richard Hinkelman. He and Bonnie Garrett were married March 30, 1990, in Mountain Grove.
He served in the Marines from January 1962 through January 1965. He was a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League in West Plains and lifetime member of the American Legion in Houston.
He was a licensed farrier and enjoyed the many years that he worked with horses.
Delbert loved spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Danny Garrett.
Survivors include two sons, Kirk of Columbia and Daniel of St. Louis; a stepson, Bobby Garrett of Licking; two stepdaughters, Janice Shanks and Debbie Gaston of Licking; two sisters, Jan Hinkelman and Joyce Wulff of Illinois; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services with full military honors were Tuesday, April 8, in Boone Creek Cemetery with Elder Ted Standley officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
