Doyle Stewart Smith, 90, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at his home in Licking.
He was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Licking, son of Roy and Veva Smith. He and Vivian Lucille Fulks were married July 17, 1943, in Plato.
He lived in the Licking area his entire life. He was employed at Fort Leonard Wood while continuing to farm. He was also an agent for M.F.A. Insurance.
He loved the 
outdoors. He killed his first deer in 1945 during the early era in which the sport was first 
made possible. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk in Missouri, Colorado, and Idaho. He fished in many lakes and rivers throughout the country.
He loved teaching his grandchildren how to hunt and sharing stories with them.
He was a member of the Licking Church of Christ. He was 
baptized at Sherrill Creek in 1944 by D. L. Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; an infant daughter; a grandson, Jeffrey Ary; and a
brother, Lynn Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Vivian; a daughter, Phyllis Ary of Canon City, Colo.; a son, Charles of Licking; three grandsons; a granddaughter; and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other family members.
Services were Monday, April 7, at the Licking Church of Christ with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
