The Houston tennis team got its first victory in dominating fashion.
HHS swept doubles play and dropped just one singles match to roll past Liberty 8-1 on the road last Tuesday. It was just the second match of the season for Houston, which canceled the previous two matches due to inclement weather.
“The kids struck the ball well,” HHS coach John Jordan said. “It was just nice to be able to play.”
Eli Todd and Olivia Woosley won their respective singles matches 8-2. Maya Brown and Alexis Adey were 8-3 winners and Sarah Kelley was victorious 8-4.
In doubles play, the teams of Todd and Brown and Kelley and Adey won 8-4. Woosley and Lizzy Swindell teamed up for an 8-5 victory.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Sammy Garrett had a 6-1 singles victory as the Houston JV beat Liberty 2-1.
Garrett and Lucas Kelley won their doubles match 6-2.
