JAMES MASSEY

James “Jim” Albert Massey, 59, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Texas County Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born April 9, 1954, in Houston, son of Lyle Eugene and Laura Eva Denton Massey. He and Leta Rumfelt were married Feb. 26, 1994, in Fairview.

He grew up in the Plato area and graduated from Plato High School in 1972.

He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed taking care of his farms, beef cattle and crops.

He was saved at a young age and was a member of the Number One Church in Huggins. He enjoyed attending services and visiting with his many friends.

His favorite pastime was reading his Bible and spending time with God.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Leta of the home; a daughter, Jessica Dawn Lynch of Uptom; a stepson, Brandon Campbell of Huggins; a brother, Gary Massey of Success; three sisters, Tammy Richardson of Success, Betty Roderick of Upton and Ina L. Kalina of Boron, Calif.; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Services were Saturday, March 29, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with Ralph Baker and the Rev. Phillip McGuire officiating. Burial was in the Number One Cemetery.
