Military veteran

Melvin LeRoy Tune, 69, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 13, 1944, in Summersville, son of William Edd and Delphia Irene Lee Tune.

He was raised in the Summersville area. He served in the Navy from 1962-’66 and was also in the Navy Reserves for several years.

He worked at Del Monte in Rochelle, Ill., before moving to Missouri and working for International Harvester and Kraft foods.

After his retirement, he moved to Summersville. He was a regular at the restaurants, where he enjoyed visiting. He was a member of the Free Masons at Theodosia and AMVETS. He attended Bethel Community Church when his health permitted.

His greatest joys were his kids and grandkids. He loved doing family genealogy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a son, Brad; a daughter, Karen; six grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Hensley of Lewisburg, Tenn.; two brothers, Bill Ed of Summersville and Lenro Tune of Willow Springs; two sisters, Mildred Barnhart of Rockspring, Texas, and Nadine Boyle of Franzee, Minn.; and many other family members and friends.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Oakside Cemetery.
