Two county offices announced their hours beginning May 1.

As public servants we feel part of our obligation is to be as consistent as possible to allow the public to do business in the Texas County Administrative Building knowing the hours of operation before they travel to the county seat to do business spending time and fuel across the largest County in the state.

Since other offices in the administration building recently made a decision to close at 4:30 p.m. It is in the best interest of our taxpayers to be consistent and avoid confusion so the assessor and recorder will close at the same time as other offices in the building.

To avoid any other confusion, the assessor will be open for business during the lunch hour.  However, due to lack of employees to allow staggered lunches, the recorder’s office will be closed from noon – 12:30.  Recording times will not change.  They still must be presented before 4 p.m. to get recorded the same day as usual.  Otherwise, the documents will be recorded the following morning in the order presented.

Marriage applications, however, must be applied for no later than 3:45 p.m. each day and, as usual, are valid for 30 days only.  Bear in mind the 30 minutes we are closed for lunch from noon -12:30 p.m.

Please be patience as we get our notices on the doors changed and understand that we appreciate your trust and confidence in us to put your best interest first in our hearts and minds as we gratefully serve you.

If you have any questions contact Texas County Assessor Debbie James at 417-967-4709 or Recorder of Deeds Susan Warkentin at 417-967-8438.
