Violet Lavern Brown Chilton, 86, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in Mountain Home, Ark.

She was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Greer Springs, daughter of John Andrew and Maude Mae Bramlett Brown. She and Arnold Chilton were married in 1951.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Birch Tree. She loved her family and was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking large meals for her loved ones.

She worked at Harps Grocery store in Mountain Home, Ark. In her spare time, she enjoyed fixing her rental property, reading and gardening flowers. She loved traveling and shopping with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold; and eight siblings, Ray Brown, Wanda Foster, Jack Brown, Burl Brown, Lester Brown, Glenda Sue Brown, Eileen Halleman and infant Chester Brown.

Survivors include three children, Carol Jean Chilton of Aspen, Colo., Linda Kay Barnett of Summersville and Terry Wayne Chilton of Webb City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services were Saturday, April 26, in Oak Forest Cemetery in Birch Tree with the Rev. Robert Medley officiating. Services were under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
