Senior Ty Albrecht was one of five HHS golfers who advanced through districts Monday.

The Houston High School golf team is sending all five varsity members to the state playoffs.

Competing in Class 2 District 5 on the Randel Municipal Golf Course in Mountain Grove, the Tigers just missed the team cut Monday but were able to advance nonetheless with high individual scores.

Dalton Hale finished sixth overall with a 15-over-par 86 to lead the Tigers. Cheston Malam was 15th (+24), followed by Jordan Russell (19, +27), Lowell Tune (20, +29) and Ty Albrecht (21, +31).

Ava won the team competition with a 336. The Bears and second-place Mountain Grove, which shot a 346, both advanced as teams. Houston was third at 379.

The top 15 individual players not from the top two teams advance to sectionals. Because all five HHS players qualified, the Tigers will also be eligible to compete as a team in the next round Monday at Seneca.

Last Tuesday, Russell and Albrecht both made the South Central Association second team at the conference tournament in Cabool.

Russell and Albrecht both shot 89s.

Houston finished fourth in the team standings.
