An investigation into child pornography was announced Monday by the Cabool Police Department.

A Cabool man is in the Texas County Jail and faces child pornography charges after an investigation by the Cabool Police Department.

John M. Evans, 53, of 905 Rogers Ave. in Cabool, is charged with possession of child pornography – second or subsequent offense or possession of 20 pictures on one device (a class B felony). The charges add to a lengthy list of other felony charges filed against Evans in mid-March (including child abuse or neglect, unlawful use of a firearm and four counts of possession of a controlled substance) and one misdemeanor (for drug paraphernalia).

Cabool PD Chief Gerald Sigman said a warrant was obtained to search Evans’ house, and computer equipment was subsequently seized and sent to a computer crime task force housed within the Dent County Sheriff’s Department. Sigman said illegal photos were found on an external hard drive.

Evans is held on $750,000 bond.
