The public is invited to attend Memorial Day ceremonies at one of the five state veteran cemeteries.
Events will be held May 26 in Bloomfield, Fort Leonard Wood, Higginsville, Jacksonville and Springfield. The Fort Leonard Wood ceremony begins at 1 p.m. The contact number is 573-774-3496. “Our cemeteries firmly believe in honoring in perpetuity those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country,” said Larry D. Kay, executive director of the Missouri Veterans Commission, “I encourage everyone to attend a Memorial Day ceremony or participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day. It’s the least we can do for these brave, gallant men and women.”
