Sales tax revenue collected in Texas County was up nearly 14 percent, according to the latest monthly distribution by the Missouri Department of Revenue. For the year, the tax ledger is showing growth of about 6 percent.
Merchants in the county collect three half-cent sales taxes at cash registers. Each totaled more than $72,000. For the first four months of the year, the total is more than $319,000 on each.
The funds are used for debt repayment on the county justice center, maintenance and general operations.Â
