Texas County ranked second in the state Saturday in the spring turkey kill, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported. 

Texas County ranked second in the state nearing the end of the second week of the spring firearms turkey season, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported.

The tally was 658 birds, which was six behind the leader, Franklin County.

The breakdown in Texas County was: 559, adult gobblers; seven, bearded hens; and 92, juvenile gobbler.
