The golf season ended for Houston –– both as a team and for five individuals –– in the sectional round of the state playoffs.

Playing a rain-shortened round Monday at the Eagle Creek Golf Club at Seneca, the Tigers finished sixth among seven teams and senior Lowell Tune missed the individual cut by three strokes.

Tune shot a 14-over par 50 to finish tied for 25th. The cut to advance was 11 over.

Jordan Russell, who finished 15 over, and Dalton Hale, who was 16 over, also just missed the cut. Cheston Malam was 18 over for HHS and Ty Albrecht finished 19 over.

Springfield Catholic won the team standings by 10 strokes at 169. Lamar was second at 179, followed by Mount Vernon (186), Mountain Grove (197), Ava (201), Houston (206) and Willow Springs (219).

Licking golfers Ian Barnes (3 over) and Gavin Adams (11 over) advanced individually.
