Texas County ranked second in the state going into the last few days of the spring firearms season, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported.
The tally was 796 birds, which was three behind the leader, Franklin County.
The breakdown in Texas County was: 673, adult gobblers; eight, bearded hens; and 115, juvenile gobblers.Â
