Several Texas County Sheriff’s Department officers were involved June 19 in a search for a man and woman wanted on felony warrants who were reportedly hiding out near the Jacks Fork River.

A deputy stated in a report that the pair was seen in a vehicle turning from Highway 137 onto Big Creek Road. A pursuit ensued during which the fugitives’ vehicle and patrol cars sped along the gravel road at speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour.

The pursuit led the cars back to Highway 137, and then south toward Willow Springs. The fugitives then tried unsuccessfully to crash into a pursuing car by repeatedly slamming on the brakes, according to a report.

The fugitives’ car eventually pulled into a driveway and the two occupants attempted to flee on foot. An officer pursued the man into some woods and got close enough to stop him with a Taser. When he brought the man back his patrol vehicle, other officers had the woman there.

Apprehended for the warrants were Paul F. Dodd, 41, of Edna Drive in Mountain View, and Lisa M. Dodd, 51, of Thomasville Road in Houston. Paul Dodd was wanted on Texas County felony warrants for drug charges and hindering the prosecution of a felony. Lisa Dodd was wanted on Texas County warrants for felony theft of more than $500 but less than $25,000 and a misdemeanor warrant for non-support.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges of resisting arrest on both fugitives, and of careless and imprudent driving on Paul Dodd.

The two Dodds were taken to the Texas County Jail.
