Eugene Dewitt “Gene” Brady, 98, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Nebo, son of James Thomas and May Preissinger Brady. He and Lillie Ada Matthews were married Jan. 14, 1942.

He joined the Army in 1942 and served until 1945. He was a farmer for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie; and eight siblings.

Survivors include a son, Brady of Nebo; a daughter, Marsha Prock of Falcon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Services were Thursday, June 5, at Cedar Bluff Baptist Church under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel. Burial was in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
