The Houston Imagination Library provides books to Houston School District homes with children ages one month to five years.

A local organization is marking its fifth anniversary of providing books to children in a program in the Houston School District.

The Community and Arts Council of Houston participates in entertainer Dolly Parton’s “Imagination Library,” which provides books monthly to children ages one month to five years.

Houston Imagination Library, in cooperation with Parton’s foundation and the Houston Schools’ Parents as Teachers program, has provided books for children in the district since 2009.

Organizers say this marks the fifth anniversary and the first graduation of 21 children in the program. There are currently 119 children enrolled.

Tax-deductible donations are sought. To assist one child it costs $25. Contributions can be sent to Community Betterment and Arts Council of Houston, P.O. Box 222, Houston, Mo. 65483.
