Improvements in the City of Houston will result in some water outages as the work is done next week.
The water/sewer department will begin repairing or replacing water hydrants in various parts of town.
While work is being done (expect four-eight hours), water will be turned off, said City Administrator Larry Sutton.
After water is restored, there will be a “boil order” in effect until the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) gives its okay. It will be only for the area where work is performed. This is normally a two-three day period for DNR to give its okay.
Notice will be placed on the Houston Herald’s website before work begins. A text message also will be distributed through its system.
Here are some tips to help you prepare if you live in the area, according to the city: Store bottled water for drinking. Also draw water in advance that could be used to flush toilets and be used for other purposes.
