The Texas County Food Pantry benefited from a drive Saturday in Houston.

Three area motorcylclist organizations – the F.A.I.T.H. Riders, the Christian Motorcyclists Association and Dogs off the Leash – teamed up to help sponsor the annual Bikers Against Hunger Food Drive on Saturday at Houston Walmart.

All of the donated non-perishable food items went to the Texas County Food Pantry for distribution to needy county residents.

The event was organized by county resident Frank White, an avid motorcycle fan.

“Frank organized another great food drive for our area,” said Food Pantry director Bennie Cook. “I would like to (everyone) for their monetary and non-perishable food items donations.

Cook said more than 890 pounds of food was donated and $220 was raised.
