Texas County authorities say several items were swiped and damage reported to other things at a Plato residence.

The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A Plato woman called at about 8:40 p.m. June 14 to complain about neighbors shooting guns near her Hannah Street residence.

An officer contacted the woman and advised her the neighbors were within their rights as long as they were shooting in a safe direction, but that he could warn them if they were shooting after hours. The woman said that wasn’t good enough and told the officer not to show up.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 4:40 p.m. June 13 regarding a theft at a Highway 32 residence at Licking.

A man at the location told the officer an air conditioning condenser unit valued at $650 had been swiped. There are no suspects.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 2:30 p.m. June 12 regarding a dog bite incident at a Northview Lane trailer park in Houston.

A woman at the location told the officer her 2-year-old daughter had been bitten in the face by a dog and had been taken to the hospital for treatment. The officer was unable to locate the dog or its owner.

The following day, the officer contacted the woman again and she stated her daughter was fine and she had not seen the dog.

•Justin K. Conaway, 23, of 11572 Cooper Drive at Licking, was issued a citation for animal neglect or abuse – failure to maintain control of three dogs – after a neighbor woman reported Conaway’s dogs had killed five of her chickens.

The dogs (Alaskan huskies) also reportedly attacked and injured a beagle and killed four chickens at a man’s adjacent property. While the officer was still on the scene, the dogs returned to the woman’s chicken pen and a man shot and killed one of them, but the other two ran away.

•A deputy was dispatched June 11 to an Atchinson Lane residence at Plato regarding a reported burglary.

The officer made contact with a real estate agent at the vacant home, who said numerous items had been swiped (including several kitchen appliances) and that many other things had been damaged (including light fixtures, an air conditioning unit and a 500-gallon propane tank). Total value of stolen or damaged goods was $3,712.

There are no suspects.

•A 33-year-old Houston man called at about 1:40 a.m. June 12 to report that a man was sneaking around outside his residence at a Morton Road trailer park at Houston.

An investigating officer located the suspect and arrested him on an active warrant for dangerous drugs. Arrested was Troy C. Conley, 47, of 8168 Morton Road, Lot 29, in Houston.

•A 35-year-old Houston man called at about 11:20 p.m. June 11 to report someone sneaking around sheds in the back yard of his Primrose Drive residence. An investigating officer was unable to locate a suspect.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 3:35 a.m. June 10 to assist an ambulance crew at a Highway BB residence where a man had reportedly cut his hand. The man stated he didn’t want to go to the hospital.

•A 19-year-old man incarcerated in the Texas County Jail reported on June 9 that he had been assaulted by 20-year-old male a corrections officer.

The county employee told an investigating deputy the inmate had been restrained of his own safety because he kept banging his head against the wall. The deputy questioned the inmate, who stated he had fought with jailers when they tried to restrain him. The deputy asked why he had claimed to have been assaulted when he had been fighting with officers.

The inmate reported said he didn’t really feel like he had been assaulted, but had made the claim so he could get out of his cell for a while.
