The Texas County Library received a $10,529 technology grant last week to purchase new equipment, including children’s literacy stations and projectors.

“This grant will allow the Texas County Library to continue to provide Missourians with outstanding resources,” Secretary of State Jason Kander said. “These resources combined with the hard work and dedication of Texas County Library’s staff help make Missouri libraries among the best in the nation.”

The secretary of state’s technology grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.

In the 2014 fiscal year, the Missouri State Library, a division of Kander’s office, has approved a total of 129 grant applications, distributing $1.4 million in federal awards to libraries throughout Missouri.
