Military veteran

Charles Monty Masengill, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his home in Jackson.

He was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Summersville, son of Harbert Masengill and Nova Jean Dixon. He and Terry Lee Shockley were married Oct. 8, 1974.

He served in the Army from 1967-’70 was deployed in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he spent his working years as a long-haul truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Robert Terrill; and a brother, Curtis Terrill.

Survivors include his wife, Terry of Jackson; three daughters, Tammy Taylor of Wallace, Kan., Montica Baters and Charlie Masengill of Jackson; his stepmother, Nealma Masengill of Mountain Grove; three sisters, Kay Terrill White and Karen Helton of Summersville and Connie Stuart of Willow Springs; a brother, Jerry Masengill of Springfield; and many other family members.

Services were Sunday, July 13, at Bradford Funeral Home.
