Kenneth Eugene Stroder Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at his home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Arkansas, son of Adam and Dora Gipson Stroder. He and Velta Lorraine McGuyre were married Feb. 14, 1951, in Osceola, Ark.
He joined the Army in 1950 and served 20 years. He served two tours in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He was awarded several medals for his service. After retiring from the Army, he worked for civil service for 20 years and retired from Ft. Leonard Wood. He then earned a CDL to drive trucks with two of his sons.
He enjoyed traveling the country in his motor home with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velta; a son, John; a daughter, Sheila; his parents; and three brothers, Emil, Carl “Bud” and John.
Survivors include four children, Kenneth E. Stroder Jr. and Dennis W. Stroder of Elkhart, Ind., Mary A. Noblin of Salem and Jerry L. Stroder of Licking; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; three sisters, Colleen Boshell of Caraway, Ark., Betty Comb of Pearl, Miss., and Caroline of St. Louis; a brother, Donald W. Stroder of Chandler, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with James “Jim” Roberts officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Boone Creek Cemetery.
