An event for area families is planned for August at Mountain Grove.

A two-county event for families is Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Tri-County Fairgrounds at Mountain Grove.

Organizers said Monday that “Kid Fest: Coming Together In Love” is drawing booth providers from both Texas and Wright counties to make another great event for area families with kids. 

Anyone who cares about children and is part of a civic organization, church, business or social agency can organize a booth to provide a fun activity, said Rita Miller, an organizer.  Time still remains.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Miller said everyone participating is to bring their own canopy, tables, lawn chairs, etc., to provide their activity and prizes. Providers can set up as early as 7 a.m. and must be ready by 9 a.m., she said. Banners and literature are permissible.

Archery, Duane Gabriel, Success, Arc of the Ozarks, Autumn Oaks, B.A.C.A.  — Bikers Against Child Abuse, Cabool Church of the Brethren, CASA of South Central Missouri, Christos House, Cub Scout Pack #50, Mountain Grove; and Del and Carol Mumby, train; and Drury University.

Eunice Whittaker Circle, Cabool UMC; First Freewill Baptist Youth, Mountain Grove; Hospice Compassus, Intercounty Electric Cooperative, Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum, Lions Club, Mountain Grove; and Mountain Grove Arena.

Mountain Grove Fire Department, MSU, Mountain Grove campus; One Accord Resource Center, “One” praise band from Houston area, Pregnancy Resource Center, Mountain Grove, Roby Fire Department, Trinity United Methodist Church, Mountain Grove; University of Missouri Extention, Wright County Family Nutrition Program/4H,Wright County Children’s Division, Wright County Crisis Center, Wright County Children’s Home, Wright County Sheriff’s Department.   

This year’s schedule

9:30 a.m. – Flag raising  by Boy Scout Troop #50, Mountain Grove

11:30 a.m. – Community games

Noon – “One” praise band from Houston will provide an hour of music.

1 p.m.- Water fun provided by the Mountain Grove Fire Department.    

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Booths will be providing activities and prizes for all the festival goers. Free refreshments will be served to everyone throughout the event thanks to generous donors in both counties. 

“We are still taking donations and signing up booth entries up to the day before the event. Call me at 417-252-0829. This event is growing every year.  We would appreciate everyone’s prayers as we come together in love to honor God and each other as his creation.  Only good can come from working together in community,”  said Foster. The directors Rita Foster, Justin Freeman, John and Denise Kelley and John Foster and the sponsoring church — South Street Church of God — invite everyone to attend this annual signature event for the families of Texas and Wright counties.
