A Plato man who guided the Plato School District for 25 years as superintendent has died.

Captola Lewis, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 10, at Lebanon.

He retired in 1986 as the head of the school district and was active in community affairs in northwest Texas County. Mr. Lewis came to Plato after serving four years as superintendent and teaching at Twin Rivers District, which is in southeast Missouri.

Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel, Lebanon, are incomplete.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Captola Lewis Memorial for establishment of a memorial fund. They can be sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, Mo. 65536.
