Evelyn Lorraine Curlile, 86, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Ozark River Manor.
She was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Broken Bow, Neb., daughter of Ernest Ludwig and Maude Mae Province Roessler. She and Glen Maurice Curlile were married in 1947.
She attended the Teachers Institute and taught school two years in Nebraska. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Denver Dry Goods in Denver, Colo. When her children were born, she became a housewife and mother. After her children were raised she worked for 10 years in the laundry dept at the hospital in Broken Bow, Neb., which was in walking distance of her home.
She moved to Missouri in the late 1990s due to health issues. While living in Arroll, she attended Midvale Church where she made many friends. She was an avid reader, reading just about anything she could find. She loved to travel.
While a resident of the Ozark River Manor, she kept up with friends and what was happening through reading the Summersville Beacon. She was faithful to read her Bible and loved attending church and being with the church family. Her faith was an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include five children, Gary Curlile of the Arroll community, Sharon Joyce of Omaha, Neb., Marion Curlile of Broken Bow, Neb., Carolyn Curlile of Reno, Nev., and John Curlile of Genoa, Neb.; a sister, Shirley Thornton of Broken Bow, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Bradford officiating. Burial was in Arroll Cemetery.
