Area firemen battled extreme heat and dry conditions as they battled a field fire Monday afternoon in Houston.
Both the city and rural fire departments responded around 1:40 p.m. to the blaze at the Glenn Romines Jr. residence. It was initially unknown what caused the fire.
Firemen were able to keep the flames away from a nearby shed and worked to protect several old vehicles on the property. Loud pops were heard as the fire scorched some vehicles.
At about 9:45 p.m. Monday, firemen were dispatched again after the blaze rekindled.
