Houston police handled several investigations in the last week. 

The following reports were generated last week by the Houston Police Department:

•An officer was dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. Aug 16 regarding a report of a fight at First and Mill streets.

Upon arrival, the officer observed a large group of people yelling at each other on Mill Street near Broadway Street. The officer advised the people to calm down, but a man and woman then went at each other in a fighting manner.

Following the officer’s investigation, the man and woman, both of Houston, were each issued citations. Telisha D. Linscott, 34, of 703 W. Chestnut St., and Vance M. Brown, 20, of 205 W. Steffens St. were cited for peace disturbance by fighting. The officer reported that Brown resisted when handcuffs were being put on him, and that he also had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and admitted to having consumed multiple beers. Brown was cited for resisting arrest and minor in possession of alcohol by consumption.

•Eddie W. Pursifull, 65, of 9632 Splitlimb Road at Raymondville, was issued a citation for following too closely after an officer’s investigation of a two-vehicle accident at about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 on U.S. 63 at the intersection with Highway 17.

•Richard E. Bratton Jr. of 444 Sam Houston Blvd. in Houston, was issued a citation for following too closely after an officer’s investigation of a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 63 at about 12:45 p.m. Aug. 15.

•Virginia Fisher, 81, of 107 Hamrick Ave. in Houston, was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way after an officer’s investigation of a two-vehicle accident at Phelps and Chestnut streets at about 10 a.m. Aug. 14.

•An officer was dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 regarding a report of a motor vehicle accident at Grand Avenue and Walnut Street.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with Texas County Sheriff James Sigman, who stated that he was stopped at a stop sign and a white van in front of him had backed into his vehicle.

As a result of the officer investigation, Robert J. Rowland, 39, of 1105 John St. in Houston, was issued citations for driving while suspended, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and failure to provide and insurance card.

•Ashley R. Collins, 25, of 15271 Simmons Drive in Cabool, was issued a citation for stealing under $500 after allegedly attempting to shoplift several items from the Houston Walmart at about 7 p.m. July 26.

Collins is suspected of shoplifting at Walmart in the past and was subsequently banned from all company properties.

•Thomas L. Parks, 17, and Erin L. Lancaster, 17, both of 417 W. Mill St. in Houston, were each issued citations for stealing under $500 after allegedly attempting to shoplift several items from the Houston Walmart at about 8:45 a.m. Aug. 11.

•Evekyn M. Alton, 74, of 534 N. Highway 17 in Summersville, was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way after an officer’s investigation of a two-vehicle accident at Highway 17 and U.S. 63 at about 10:30 a.m. Aug. 4.

•Billy J. Hayes Jr., 23, of 216 Bryan St. in Houston, and Adam L. Kirkwood, 26, of 995 N. Highway 95 at Mountain Grove, were each issued citations for third-degree assault after an incident at about 10:45 p.m. Aug. 9 on Bryan Street during which they allegedly punched a 22-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, both of Houston.
