The Houston Police Department has been awarded funding for some new equipment.

The Houston Police Department applied for and has received $3,500 in grant funding from the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety.

HPD Chief Jim McNiell said the funds would be used to purchase two new radar detector units, two portable breath testers and a flare kit.

“We’re very appreciative of the coalition for helping us with updating equipment,” McNiell said.

The coalition is affiliated with the Missouri Department of Transportation. For more information, log onto www.savemolives.com.
