A local ministry began hosting a conference Friday for teenage guys and young adults.
‘Man Up’ features praise and worship, games, food and speakers. The two-day conference, which is hosted by Undivided Hearts, began Friday night.
Organizers said the format includes messages in a large group setting, followed by discussions in small groups. Among the scheduled speakers are Pastor Bill Villapiano of Faith Fellowship, Pastor Nick Melton of Life Church, Houston High School graduate Joel Childers and leaders from Undivided Hearts.
“Our mission at the conference isn’t to hammer the guys with dos and don’ts,” said Jeff McNiell of Undivided Hearts. “We want to encourage them and equip them with information they can apply immediately into their lives. We’re not going to just tell them to pray more or spend more time in the Word. We’re going to show them specifically how to do it.”
The conference began on Friday night with a three-hour session from 7-10 p.m. It included music, three speakers, a breakout session and ice cream. The conference begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and concludes around 6 p.m. Scheduled are five speakers, outdoor games, more music and a barbecue.
Cost for the conference is $12 and includes a T-shirt, food, prizes and a workbook. For more information, call McNiell at 417-260-4343 or visit the Undivided Hearts Facebook page at facebook.com/undividedhearts.
