The ongoing unrest in Ferguson has prompted the Missouri State Highway Patrol to send officers there from all over the state.
According to spokesperson Jeff Kinder, the Willow Springs-based Troop G sent 11 officers to Ferguson Saturday (Aug. 16). Kinder said Troop G – which has a total of about 70 officers – would send a new group of officers to the trouble zone on a rotating basis every five days until the unrest eases.
“We have 11 zones, and we’re trying to take one out of each zone so there’s no reduction in the service we can provide,” Kinder said. “We’ll keep rotating guys there as long as necessary – it just depends on what happens.
“It’s quite a deal.”
