Two Texas County farms will be stops on Congressman Jason Smith’s second annual Farm Tour this week.

Smith’s tour throughout the 30 counties of Missouri’s 8th Congressional District began Tuesday and will conclude Friday. He will be at the JW Phillips Cattle Farm in Cabool from 3:45-4:45 Thursday, Aug. 28, and Big Piney Worm Farm in Licking from 9-10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29.

“Agriculture is the No. 1 industry in our 8th Congressional District and it is essential to the health of our rural economy. Our district is one of the most diverse agriculture districts in the country growing everything except sugar and citrus fruits,” said Smith. “I am looking forward to being on my farm tour and meeting the families who farm the land and raise livestock in our region. I will be visiting livestock operations ranging from cattle and pigs to goats and horses. We will also see row crops like rice, corn, soybeans and cotton. Along the way we will event visit a saw mill, walnut tree farm and an apple orchard. The information I learn on the Farm Tour will be critical as a new Farm Bill is being implemented and policy is being crafted in Washington.”
