Bob Monroe Gladden, age 84, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, in Success.

He was born March 6, 1930, in Turley, son of Clarence E. and Lena Mae Welch Gladden

He grew up in the Turley community and graduated from Plato High School.

He was in the Army from 1952-’54 and served his country in Korea.

He worked for more than 30 years in civil service at Fort Leonard Wood. When he retired in 1981, he became more involved in the farm and raising cattle.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was often found hunting and fishing. He also loved dealing real estate. He valued hard work.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #469 of Plato for more than 50 years.

He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Maxine Umfleet; and two brothers, J.W. Gladden and Kenneth Gladden.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta of Houston; a daughter, Debbie Gladden of Houston; a son, Robert Gladden of Turley; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Services were Monday, Sept. 29, at Evans Funeral Home. Burial with military honors was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
