Houston’s city clerk was recognized Tuesday for obtaining her designation of “Missouri Registered City Clerk.”

Sheila Matlock, Mansfield’s city clerk, made the presentation at a meeting of the Houston City Council on behalf of the Missouri City Clerk’s and Finance Officers Association.

The certification process is a combination of education and experience, and it is something that takes hard work and dedication, said Matlock. The Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association works to meet the educational needs of the clerks and finance officers in the state.

It has a membership of 516 and is dedicated to the education of city clerks and finance officers in the state.

Matlock said with the ever-changing state statutes and rules governing cities, it is vital that someone keeps current on them. She complimented the city on sending Foster to educational sessions that benefit it.
