Sales tax revenue in Houston was up during the latest monthly period. For the first two months of the year, the tally is up about 2.2 percent.

The most recent revenue from a one-cent sales tax was up about 6 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total was $67,130, a jump of $3,707 from the same period a year ago. In the first eight months of the year, the total is $465,015, up about 5 percent from 2013.

Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for sidewalks, roads and utility work. Each contributed $16,253 in the most recent monthly period. That’s up $814 from a year ago.

An eighth-cent sales tax earmarked for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $8,127.
