The Lady Wildcats swept the season series from Houston with a 25-20, 25-12 victory Monday night inside Hiett Gymnasium.
In front of a fired up pep club dressed in red, white and blue, the Lady Tigers started strong and led 20-19 on junior Camryn Scheets’ tip over the net. But Licking scored the final six points of the first set and pulled away in the second with an 18-5 rally to close the match.
Sarah Kelley had a team-high six kills for Houston (3-6). Scheets handed out nine assists and Megan Silveus had a pair of aces.
Over the weekend, the Lady Tigers lost four of their five matches at the Branson Invitational.
After losing in straight sets to Pattonville, Mount Vernon and Lebanon, the Lady Tigers opened tournament play with an 18-25, 25-19, 25-16 come-from-behind victory against Diamond.
Silveus and Kelley had 10 kills apiece to lead the Lady Tigers. Kelley had three aces, and Nora Dixon and Silveus had two apiece. Scheets added 27 assists and six kills.
Houston concluded the tournament with a 25-21, 25-16 loss to Reeds Spring.
Last Tuesday, Scheets had 16 assists in the Lady Tigers’ 25-14, 25-19 victory against Summersville.
Silveus and Dixon had four aces apiece for HHS. Kelley led the team with five kills.
JUNIOR VARSITY: Krista Scott had four aces in the JV Lady Tigers’ 25-15, 25-7 loss Monday night to Licking.
Scott and Brooke McCown led Houston with two kills apiece. Chandra Hubbs had four assists.
