PODS® of Houston has been a dedicated supporter for the last three years with Camp Hope in its endless endeavors to help Texas children living with HIV to connect with mentors, and helping them build their self-confidence. Through donations of PODS containers courtesy of PODS of Houston, the AIDS Foundation is able to conveniently store camp supplies while saving thousands of dollars in logistics and storage costs.
“The commitment and passion of PODS of Houston make it possible to create inspiring environments for campers, where they not only feel encouraged but are additionally empowered by those around them,” states Margarita Perez, Camp Hope Director. “We look forward to the day that no child will have to live with HIV, but until then, hope that we continue to have your support providing HIV-positive children and adolescents a week full of hope and free of stigma.”
Camp Hope is a week-long program for HIV-positive children ages 7 to 15 to conquer their insecurity and build their self-esteem and challenge themselves to grow. For the week, campers engage in traditional camp activities, ride horses, sing songs, rock climb, and feel free to be a kid.
“We are grateful that an organization like Camp Hope is available for these children and are inspired by the hard work the camp organizers put forth to help the youth live a fulfilling life,” said Kay Weatherly, Customer Service Manager of PODS of Houston. “The PODS container donations are a token of our appreciation and support for this wonderful cause, which we hope alleviates of some the logistical stresses that come with running the camp.”

ABOUT CAMP HOPE
According to the Centers for Disease Control, recent data indicates that 1 in 4 of new HIV infections occur in youth. The highest concentrations of those are diagnosed in the Southern and Southeastern United States. To prevent youth from falling prey to illness and stigma, AIDS Foundation Houston designed a continuum of youth summer programs to give HIV-positive youth the confidence, education and life skills they need to lead productive lives.
