Raymondville Fire Department Chief Guy Ceplina recently presented certificates of appreciation to Raymondville residents Dorman Merckling and Scott Donley for their actions during a fire that destroyed four apartments Aug. 8 at the Raymondville Senior Housing complex.
Donley and Merckling are credited with saving the life of Irvin McLean by carrying him away from a burning apartment. Merckling also took McLean to the hospital.
“It was bad enough that four units were destroyed,” Ceplina said. “But thanks to what these men did, at least we didn’t also have a body to deal with.”
