Military veteran

Morris Edward Jones, 77, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at Texas County Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Bunker, son of William Edward and Virgie L. Carver Jones. He married Katherine Mickelson Jones.

He was raised in Cabool and graduated in 1955 Cabool High School. He was married to Katherine Mickelson Jones.

He enlisted in the Army, serving in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. He graduated at Ft. Benning, Ga., from the Officer Intelligence Program. He retired from the military in 1969.

He loved golfing, fishing, reading and his family. He was known as a jokester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob and Bill Jones.

Survivors include two children, Kirk Jones Mollie McAdams of Portland, Ore.; two granddaughters; a brother, Mike Jones of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Betty Hutchison of Gillette, Wy.

Memorial services were Thursday, Oct. 9, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cabool with Father Paul Wightman officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
