Roger Steve Linson, 72, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014.
He was born May 9, 1942, in Licking, son of Irrie and Alta Linson. He married Edna Steward Linson.
He graduated Licking High School in 1960. He enlisted into the Navy and served six years. He then joined the St. Louis Police Department and graduated from the St. Louis Police Academy. During his time serving as a police officer, he received a criminal justice degree from the University of Missouri.
He was a police officer in St. Louis and Kansas City. He was also a mail carrier in Kansas City. He later served as a special agent for the State of Missouri. Throughout his career, he continued to serve as a reservist with the Coast Guard and retired with a total of 30 years of military service.
He and his wife, Edna, lived most of their lives in Independence. The lived the last 14 years in Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Holt.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Springfield; three sons, Roger Allen of West Virginia and Kenneth and Nick of Springfield; a daughter, Angela Ryan of Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Diana Peterson of Licking and Nancy Hannaford of Pontiac; four grandchildren; and many other family members.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Fox Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in Williams Cemetery.
