The World Series has a Texas County connection: Presenting the American flag at Wednesday night’s game for the National Anthem was Petty Officer 2nd Class J. Michael Miller, son of Lanita Sconce Smith and her husband, Jim.
Lanita attended Houston High School in 1966-1969 and still claims Houston as her hometown.
Michael is the grandson of the Rev. Johny and Wandalea Sconce, formerly of Raymondville.
Miller has also helped at an All-Star Game, and will assist with holding a large flag at a November Chiefs game.
