A St. Charles woman was killed early Sunday in a crash about three miles southeast of Houston, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Tpr. T.L. Brown said a northbound 2006 Pontiac Vice driven by Kimberly J. Blum, 26, failed to negotiate a curve, travelled off the left side of Highway 17 and struck a tree at about 12:02 a.m.
The wreck was discovered several hours later, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene near Hawkeye Road. The woman had been visiting friends and relatives in the area.
Members of the Houston Rural Fire Department Rescue Squad were called to the scene to assistant.
