Members of the Houston City Council heard Monday that a road extension in the southern part of the community is complete.
The news came during a short session of the council.
The roadwork extends C.W. Harry Drive south to Cleveland Road. Excavation is complete, rock added and shoulders seeded. The project contractor was Jared Smith of Solo. The road may receive an asphalt overlay in the summer. The city hopes the public will use the road extensively before summer — allowing the rock base to settle.
In other matters, members:
—Authorized repairs to a Ditch Witch.
—Learned a new crosswalk and signage has been added on West Highway 17. The city will maintain the painted stripes and MoDOT installed the signage. The city said the project came at the suggestion of Superintendent Scott Dill and his daughter. Students cross the highway there.
