Ruth Eloise Wyrick Shriver, 91, of Elk Creek, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, in Houston.
She was born March 6, 1923, in the Liberty community, daughter of Louie Fred and Gladys Amy Hume Wyrick. She and Norman Presley Shriver were married Dec. 31, 1943.
She attended grade school at Clear Springs and high school at Willow Springs.
She and her husband, Norman, spent 57 years together in the Nagle community.
She worked 22 years at Angelia Uniform Factory in Summersville, where she met many friends.
She loved helping Norman on the farm, raising her children and grandchildren, sewing and preparing meals from her garden.
She was raised a Christian and baptized in her childhood. She spent the rest of her years in the Christian churches, including Nagle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her parents; a brother, Les Wyrick; and an infant sister, Ruby.
Survivors include two children, Freda Schmidt of Rolla and Darrell Shriver of Elk Creek; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; a brother Mitchell Wyrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Nagle Christian Church with Pastor Chuck Cook and Terry Lebaron officiating. Burial was in Nagle Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
