An officer fired his Taser when a man charged in an incident at Licking, authorities said.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A 53-year-old Cabool woman reported Dec. 17 that her 18-year-old daughter had taken her 2000 Ford Escort the previous night and was refusing to bring it home. An investigating officer stated the daughter would be contacted for questioning.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 5 p.m. Dec. 11 after a man called to report a sheep in poor condition at a Highway FF property. The officer was unable to locate the animal.

•A deputy was dispatched Nov. 18 to a Highway 32 residence at Licking regarding a report of a civil dispute.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a 25-year-old man who lives there who had called the sheriff’s department about the dispute. The officer also observed two other men there.

When asked for his identification, the resident reportedly charged toward the officer in an aggressive manner. The officer stated he then fired his department issued taser at the man, and its prongs lodged in the man’s chest. But the taser had no apparent effect on the man, who pulled the prongs out and ran into the house.

As the other two men ran into nearby woods, the officer pursued the resident and he became more compliant. After being handcuffed and placed in the officer’s patrol car, he told the officer he had charged because he was angry about having his vehicle taken away. He said he thought the other men were stealing it, but found out they were actually there to repossess it.

The officer stated he elected not to file assault charges against the man.
