JEWELL LEEĀ

Jewel Clark Lee, 92, of Cabool, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014. She was born on June 28, 1922, in Shelbyville, Tenn., the daughter Dolphus Littleton Clark and Mettie Lee Sherrill Clark.

She married Lester Lee and to this union three daughters were born. She was a hard worker her entire life, starting from the farm she grew up on in Tennessee. During World War II, she worked as a welder in the shipyards at Mobile, Alab. –– in our eyes she was the original ā€œRosie the Riveter.ā€ She later moved to Illinois and constantly held at least one job and sometimes two, always working hard to support her three girls who were the most important parts of her life. In 1989, she moved to Cabool, Mo., to be closer to her daughters and lived the last 25 years at Grandview Terrace in Cabool, Mo.

Jewel was the core of her family. An avid NASCAR fan, the family knew not to disturb her on Race day. She was loved and will be deeply missed by them as well as all that knew her.

Jewel is survived by her three daughters, Lynda Casey and husband, John, of Simmons, Mo., Shirley Johnson of West Plains, Mo., and Diane Phillips and husband, George, of Pomona, Mo.; Jim and Debbie Johnson of Pottersville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Shelly McBroom and husband, Dana, of Garden Grove, Iowa, Rick Lee and wife, Ambre, of Valley Village, Calif., Dina Casey of Houston, Mo., Sergeant Greg Johnson of Loves Park, Ill., and Stacy Phillips Dollins of West Plains, Mo.; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time; interment will be in the Cabool Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool, Mo. Online condolences may be made at www.egcfuneralhome.com.
