Norman Wesley Merckling, 75, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Houston House.
He was born June 8, 1939, in Raymondville, son of Wayne and Sylvia Walker Merckling.
He was a graduate of Houston High School. He was inducted into the Army in June 1962 and was discharged in June 1964.
He loved handling his horses, spending time with friends and family.
Norman accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior several years ago and was baptized by his brother, Eddie Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doyle Merckling; and a sister, Bonnie Burch.
Survivors include five siblings, Gail Lee, Eddie Merckling, Bettie Jones, Judy York and his twin brother, Dorman Merckling; four daughters, Karen Kennedy, Beverly Denton, Norma Laber and Loretta Fletcher; two sons, Dennis Merckling and Don Merckling; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with full military honors were Wednesday, Dec. 10, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Fort Leonard Wood with Pastor Eddie Wayne Merckling officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Norman Merckling Memorial Fund.
