Food safety issues will be addressed at a meeting in February in Houston.

The University of Missouri Texas County Extension and the Master Gardeners of Texas County will host a Food Safety from Farm to Fork workshop from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the MU Extension Office on South Sam Houston Blvd. in Houston.

Extension specialist Patrick Byers will be joined by Texas County Department of Health staff to discuss a wide range of topics related to the safe production and sales of vegetables and fruit.

“Everyone has a role to play in growing and marketing safe produce – farmers, vendors at farmers markets and consumers,” Byers said.

Cost to attend is $10, which includes educational materials, a certificate of attendance and lunch. Farmers, gardeners and interested members of the public are welcome.
